How do I determine the appropriate amount of compensation capacitance using the ADA4522-2 and the AD5556?

  • Hi,

The data sheet says a 20pF capacitor is generally adequate for the compensation. The compensation capacitor prevents ringing and instability at the output of the DAC. If you want to compute for the capacitance, you can use the equation below. Note that the output capacitance and the feedback resistor Rfb combined will add a pole to the open-loop response.
