AD2S1200: Can I use both the serial and the parallel mode for velocity and position information?

Q 

Can I use both the serial and the parallel mode for velocity and position
information respectively?
(By switching respective signal inputs) There are not many 2s complement DACs
available in parallel mode,
so I could select the R/D to give velocity information in serial mode and
position
information in parallel mode, I need to use the parallel mode for position
information.

 

A 

Typically customer application will use either serial or parallel interfaces to
read velocity and position but you can use both parallel and series interfaces.
The 2’s complement velocity output can be read on the serial port and you can
use the parallel port to read the position data (straight binary). Use /SOE to
select between serial and parallel interface and /RDVEL to select between
angular position and velocity registers.
