AD7177-2 Can we disable the 50/60Hz filters?

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: AD7177-2

The  AD7177-2 datasheet states that each filter has a registers to enable or disable the various filters:

  SINC1, SINC3, SINC5 and "50Hz and 60Hz Postfilter"

However Figure 53 implies there is a choice of filter and these cannot be fully disabled.

Hence the subject title.

  • Hi  ,

The digital filters are not intended to be completely disabled. The ADC always uses one of the main Sinc filters and optionally a separate 50/60Hz filter. The postfilter can be disabled but the main Sinc filters cannot be bypassed.

Figure 53 in the datasheet is the filter block diagram. It shows:

    • A choice between Sinc5+Sinc1 and Sinc3
    • An optional 50/60Hz enhanced postfilter that operates only when Sinc5+Sinc1 is selected.

    Regards,

    JC
