AD4116 Register settings for range changes in Eval Software

Thread Summary

The user inquired about the lack of changes in the register map when altering the range settings from +/-10V to +/-5V in the Eval+ Software. The final answer clarifies that the range setting only affects the noise resolution calculation (pk-pk or RMS) and does not influence the output data code or register configurations. The range impacts the resolution based on the Full Scale range over noise performance ratio.

When I save the register map before and after changing the range settings (+/-10V to +/-5V) i don't see any changes in the saved register map.  Can you tell me what registers get updated when changing range?

the data output coding section of the datasheet makes no mention of range.  What exactly is the range setting doing?

  • Hi  ,

In the Eval+ Software, the selected "Range" setting is only used to calculate noise resolution (either pk-pk or RMS). It does not influence the output data code or affect the register configurations.

For example, if your input is 5V, you can use the same equations below to calculate the output code regardless of the selected "Range".

The range will only affect the resolution as the resolution is based on the ratio of the Full Scale range over noise performance.

I hope this clarifies your question.

    Regards,

    JC
