How to sync MAX11403 ADC conversion with an external pulse source

Product Number: MAX11043

We plan to use MAX11043 chip for laser beam photon signal data acquisition.

There is a "CONVRUN" pin for starting the ADC conversion. But the data sheet states " Do not pulse CONVRUN". How to sync MAX11403 ADC conversion with an external pulse source?
