ESD issue.

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD7607

Hello,

I need to understand ESD protection of Analog input , as per datasheet there are input clamps. So if the input analog channels get damaged due to ESD what will be outcome ?

second case , if the input analog channel gets damage due to overvoltage or surge how will IC react ?

Please help me

  • Hi,  .

May I know what is your input voltage to the device? Its absolute maximum voltage should not exceed +/- 16.5V. And its current capability that can be sink is 10 mA. These are the specs that should not be violated to ensure the device will not be damaged. Outside these, I can't guarantee that the device would still work optimally. On the other hand, I also don't want to suggest these ranges as it would not guarantee an optimal performance. We should still focus to its specs table.

    Hi,
    it depends on your ESD-Pulse.
Normally you would place series resistors to the input leads of your inputs, so the input current is limited by the clamps to less than 10mA under all conditions .
So your inputs will be protected and you don't need to know "what if"...
