Each pin has a designated output, filtered output and no latency output. You can refer to the images below for your reference to its datasheet.

Also, you can refer to its pin functions on page 11. And to its applications information on pages 46 and 48.

I went through the datasheet multiple times, but it has been a little difficult for me to understand. I am aware of the pins and their corresponding functions. 

I need help with understanding whether the control word is required or not to be able to use LTC 2500 in the way provided in the datasheet.

I want to use the "Conventional SAR Operation (N=1)" application provided in the datasheet which requires me to configure the LTC2500-32 in the averaging filter mode:

In DC2390 the PRE pin is connected directly to the ground.

So there is no way we can set it to high without modifying the physical design.

This leaves me with only one option:

To configure the Digital Filter. In order to configure the digital filter, do I need to provide the control word? Kindly let me know.

I would be open to sharing my signal tap results and design code as well in a personal email.

To configure the device as conventional SAR N=1 you dont need to use the PRE pin you can do it by configuring the ADC in averaging mode (C[3:0]=0111) with a DF=1 (C[7:4]=0000)
