Connecting Clock signal to ADAS1000-4 instead of Crystal

Hi,

There should be no XTAL pin for ADAS1000-2 and will only have CLK_IN pin since this is a dedicated slave device when  used in gang mode. Clock of slave device should be coming from CLK_IO of master device.

For ADAS1000-4, CLK_IO can be used as the clock source.

We want to use ADAS1000-4 and ADAS1000-2 in GANG Mode. In this case, Do I need to connect Clock in the following way....?

Method-1:

1. Clock signal from Oscillator/Clock generator to XTAL1 PIN of ADAS1000-4.

2. Clock_IO of ADAS1000-4 will act as clock source to ADAS1000-2. So, ClK_IO of ADAS1000-4 will be connected to CLK_IN of ADAS1000-2.

or Should we do the following 

Method-2:

1. Connect Clock signal from Oscillator or Clock generator to CLK_IO Pin of ADAS1000-4

2. Connect Clock signal from Oscillator or Clock generator to CLK_IN Pin of ADAS1000-2

You need to do the 2nd method that you outlined. Just note that the CLKEXT should be configured in the master device

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, In the ECGCTL register Bit 6 (CLKEXT), I will select Clock_IO as clock Source.
