ADAS1000: Why the amplitude of ECG is changing when I am trying to use electrode configuration?

Hi,

I am trying to configure ADAS1000 in electrode mode as per fig60 in the datasheet. When I record the data in the single ended mode, with gain 4.2, the amplitude of the ECG signal is increased to 2.0mv (originally fed signal amplitude =1.0mv).  Can anyone let me know why this is happening? Please find the attached document with screenshots of the register configuration.

    We have tried with other gain settings also (1.4, 2.1 and 2.8) and we are facing the same issue. When we feed ECG with 2.0mv we are not getting any waveform. Can you please help regrading this. Can you please share the common electrode A mode (ref fig 60, pg.33 from datasheet) working configuration file? I have also attached the register configuration we have used. Please verify it and let us know the changes to be made.

  • Hi,
    Are you using the applications board from ADI? If yes, the ADAS1000 GUI will be very helpful on experimenting with the ADAS1000 settings. 

    In your register settings, your ECGCTL disables the RA read and RLD setting in CMREFCTL is also off, you'll want to enable LARLD, LLRLD, and RARLD in CMREFCTL. 

    For more details on ADAS1000 setup, please check the EXAMPLES OF INTERFACING TO THE ADAS1000 section of ADAS1000/ADAS1000-1/ADAS1000-2 (Rev. C) (analog.com) Example 1 should help you get up to speed on ADAS1000

  • Hi Mark, 

    We are using ADAS1000SDZ EVM module. We will verify the register settings suggested by you. On the board we had routed RA to CE_IN as per fig60 in datasheet. Enabling RA in ECGCTL  was inducing noise so we had to disable it. 

    Can you share the working configuration for common electrode mode?

    We configured ADAS1000 as per fig62 in the data sheet and we are getting ECG data with proper amplitude. When we capture the data from write to file option, the columns displayed are LA,LL,RA, and V1 to V6. Can you clarify if the displayed columns are actually LA -CE, LL-CE and so on?

    Since CE=RA, it its better to tag it as LA-RA, LL-RA, V1-RA, V2-RA,...Please refer to the table in Figure 62 for data word arrangement

    We tried the configuration you mentioned, we are still facing the same problem of amplitude change  and not able to configure the ADAS1000 according to fig 60.

    Can you please share the register configuration to configure ADAS1000 according to fig60?

  • Hi,
    The critical register bits for this configuration are stated in figure 62 as well. DATAFMT = 1, CHCONFIG = 0, and CEREFEN = 1. You should also enable all channels in ECGCTL.

    We are getting data properly according to fig 62, we want to capture data in vector/lead mode as per fig 60.  For fig 60 DATAFMT=0, can you help us with this configuration?
