AD7664 48pin LQFP package layout question

Hello,

Can you please review the foll\owing question from out customer on the AD7664 ADC 48pin LQFP package.

I have a quick question about Analog Devices AD7664. We are using part number AD7664ASTZ and we wanted to verify that there was no EPAD and therefore should be no copper pad underneath the part on the layout.

I don’t think the version we are using has an EPAD. That is what I wanted to confirm. Also, what are the layout recommendations for copper underneath the part if it does not have an EPAD?

  • Hello,

The 48-pin LQFP AD7664ASTZ does not have an EPAD (see page 20 of the data sheet for the package outline drawing for the LQFP package outline diagram). Because there is no connectivity under the device, there are no restrictions to the copper routing under the device. For layout recommendations for this device, please see the Layout section on page 19 of the data sheet.

  • Thank you for your support, we could only assume by reading the datasheet and  I could not find any Application note for the LQFP package for layout, maybe we need to be specific on the datasheet. Please note even the datasheet is not clear for the EPAD layout, I had to find an application note for this as well, anyway, thank you.
