AD2S1200 Noise Problem

I am using a resolver on a 10 kW motor via the AD2S1200. The DOS and LOT signals indicate a fault after only approximately 10 ms of operation. There is noise being picked up (as seen on the sin, sin_lo, cos, and cos_lo signals) even though screened cables connected to REFOUT are being used. Is it possible to include a filter on the sin, sin_lo, cos, and cos_lo lines just before the AD2S1200 to filter out the noise? If, so could you suggest a circuit. The noise spikes are about 1 microsecond in width.

    Hi,

Yes it is possible a add a filter between the resolver and the AD2S1200. The recommended method is via a simple RC filter on the signal lines. I would recommend to keep the value of R low, <2K Ohms.

Just to be aware of the phase shift introduced by the RC filter and the phase lock range specification of +/-45 degrees.

Adding external components can introduce additional errors in your system due to introduced amplitude mismatch and phase mismatch. To reduce the effect use tight tolerance components.
