Can we use AD2S1205 to synchronize two old DC motors suffering from field weakening effect?
The AD2s1205 connects from the resolver through S3-S1 to Sin and SinLo and S4-S2 to Cos and CosLo pins. The resolver will then be connected to the motor shaft. While the motor shaft is rotating , Sin and Cos angle of the resolver varies depending on the position of the shaft. The AD2S1205 coverts the angle between the rotating and static coil of the resolver. Can you share more details on the application? Actually, we have two DC motors 175 k Watts working in cable/wire manufacturing industry. These motors are over 20 years old and they loose synchronization due to weak magnetization effects. . any mismatch in speed ( and position) breaks the wire and this increases cable waste . Off course analog Devices' RDC offers intelligent very precise angular movement signal but it is for moving one motor . we face two motors out off synch due to reason above. industry contacts us with this problem frequently. As clients are reluctant to change motors.
Can we use RDC # AD2S1205 or any other in the series to control High Power DC motors (especially old fellows) to terms of speed and position for two or more motors in manufacturing industry reluctant to change motors.

last week, I visit a steel rolling mill. they using two synchro with LSI components, two motors are old and unpredictable, they loose quality and facing business loss/ larger waste size.
