configuring the AD2S1210SDZ

Category: Hardware
Product Number: EVAL - AD2S1210SDZ
Software Version: N/A

Hello,

I have a EVAL- AD2S1210SDZ with a EVAL-SDP-CB1Z board and want to Run the AD2S1210SDZ in standalone mode.

The board is needed to convert resolver signals  to encoder signals at 12 bit (4096).

I Need help with the configuration Jumper pins. When i have RES0 and RES1 in position C and LK4 and LK5 in Position C,  After configuring using the board i can read the data and Get 4096 count with a sin/ cos clipped error.

So my questions are:

  • How do i get the same resolution in the standalone mode. i have tried using the jumper locations in the datasheet and have failed.

i have attached an image of the current set up of the board.

Any help on this is much appreciated.

  • Chris,

Apologies for the delay in getting to your question. So my understanding is that you want to remove the controller board and simply run the resolver using the default configuration (in memory) and to use the encoder output only?

If my understanding of your solution is correct you don't need the parallel or serial interfaces for data collection as you're using the encoder outputs and you can just fix A0 (LK4) and A1 (LK5) to VDRIVE (Position A) to leave the device in configuration mode.

To get the encoder output into 12 bit mode you'll need to write to the CONTROL register using one of the interface configurations to set the correct ENRES1, ENRES0 code per the datasheet (see tables 22, 23, REVB).

On the LOT/DOS it may just be that you need to perform the fault clear sequence at startup to remove the bogus faults.  For that you'll need access to the SAMPLE pin as well to clear out the fault.

So depending on your interface selection for configuration you'll need to do some modifications to your controller to get everything where you want it.

    Hope that helps.
