Question
In brief, in one of running research projects we require a solution where we
record an analogue baseband (NOT RF) signal with a bandwidth of about 100 MHz
and later we 'replay' this signal.
We already own an ADC which we have successfully used to record the analogue
signal which we can also process in MATLAB. We are now looking for a DAC board
that can be used to 'replay' the signal. By browsing the internet I came across
the following board: AD9739A-FMC-EBZ which can interface with one of the
ZEDBOARDS we have.
Could you please confirm that the AD9739A-FMC-EBZ board can be used to
reconstruct a baseband signal. In addition, it will be helpful if you could
give us information about the process to do that using a ZEDBOARD.
Answer
1. Yes, AD9739A can be used to reconstruct baseband signal. A lower pass filter
is necessary after DAC output.

2. Regarding AD9739A-FMC-EBZ : AD9739A-FMC-EBZ can be interfaced with ZED
Board. The ZED board uses FMC- LPC connector and Zync SoC, This will work to
some degree. The throughput and full capability of the AD9739A is somewhat
quite limited when using with ZED Board. I re-confirmed with our product
experts and unfortunately we do not have any existing reference design for
AD9739A-FMC-EBZ on ZedBoard so far.
Software & Documentation : The reference design is available on this particular
link. https://wiki.analog.com/resources/fpga/xilinx/fmc/ad9739a
However, supported carriers as mentioned are ML605, KC705, VC707 and AC701.
