Multiple Devices in Parallel

Question In our application, we need to connect multiple AD9164 devices in parallel andcontrol the phase of data output. For example: using 4 DAC devices, all DACs get a data vector to output a sinwave in a certain frequency, but they should be configure to have few tens ofps phase delay between them. My questions: · Is there an implementation you’re familiar with using multiple DACdevices? · How do you recommend to implement such phase delay between DACdevices? utilizing JESD204B protocol / control the SYSREFCLK / control theDAC_CLK? Answer There is description in the data sheet for how to align the JESD inputs to within a few clock cycles. To get closer than that, you will need anexternal phase shifter like the AD7044 or other device that enables such fine steps in time. Please see below a couple of proposed diagrams. We havenot tested them yet, but on paper they look like they could do the job. The second one is interesting because DACCLK goes through the HMC7044, whichthen enables it to delay phase of the DACCLK, which would be needed if you needed to align to less than +/-2 DACCLK cycles.
