How to read or write the registers of AD9174 through SPI(p3)?

Hi, 
 I want to read and write registers of AD9174 through SPI, can I connect AD9174 to ADS8 for power supply and use another fpga board(zcu102) to program registers values through the P3 connector? 
 If i could, do i need to use the API library, or just read and write directly?

Hello, I suppose you could but it seems a waste of the ads8 to use it only for powering the board. You can also power the eval board with +/-12V to TP41/42. Is there a reason why you would not use an ads8/9174 pairing or zcu102/9174 pairing alone? You can read/write directly to the 9174 using the P3 header but is there a reason you do not want to use ACE via the microusb on the evalboard for programming?
