LTC2000 vs LTC2000A compatibility

Thread Summary

The user inquired about running the LTC2000A at a VDD18 voltage between 1.71V and 1.8V, below 2Gsps. The final answer from the design team states that the minimum VDD18 for the LTC2000A is 1.8V, and running it below this voltage is not recommended as it is outside the tested performance range. The design team advises strictly following the datasheet specifications.

Hello,

We've been using the LTC2000 and are looking at replacing the part in our design with the LTC2000A.

When I look at the datasheet, the only difference that concerns me is that the LTC2000A calls out a slightly higher voltage for VDD18.

In the  LTC2000 the voltage is rated from 1.71V to 1.89V
In the LTC2000A the voltage is rated from 1.8V to 1.92V.

Would there be any problems in running the LTC2000A between 1.71V and 1.8V if I keep the sample rate below 2Gsps?

My suspicion is that these are actually the same parts and the 'A' version is simply screened for better performance. If that is the case, then I think I should be able to run the part at the LTC2000 voltages and achieve the LTC2000 specs.

Thanks.

Mark
