We are updating an IQ Modulator design that currently uses an AD9777 DAC to drive the I and Q inputs of an ADL5390 as per the ADL5390 data sheet (figure 32).
The AD9777 DAC is now listed as 'Not Recommended for New Designs'
What DAC should we use in the revised design.
How about the AD9125? http://www.analog.com/en/products/digital-to-analog-converters/da-converters/ad9125.html
This is what is recommended as an alternative part of the the AD9777 webpage.
Thank-you for your reply.
When I had previously looked at the AD9777 webpage there wasn't any recommendations for replacements.
Looking again at the AD9777 webpage I notice that its status has changed to ‘Production’
In our design update we are going to retain the AD9777 DAC as the update is meant to have no changes to firmware or software.
Should the part status change to a ‘Last Time Buy’, with the low volume of use we are comfortable with buying a suitable quantity and or making more radical changes then.
Unfortunately, I don't know the status of the DAC as I only support the ADL5390. Hopefully the DAC support team will reply shortly. If not, let me know and I'll try to touch bases with DAC support.
