AD9106-EBZ input clock

Hi,

I purchased the evaluation board for the AD9106 chip for an experimental physics lab at UCSB and I have some questions about the clock source, which I still need to obtain.

The board is configured to take in a 1440 MHz sine wave signal, divide that frequency by 8, and provide a 180 MHz clock input to the AD9106 chip. My questions are:

- Do you have a recommendation for a good 1440 MHz clock source that meets the requirements of this chip? We are interested in using a crystal oscillator as opposed to a VCO.

- If we have trouble finding a 1440 MHz crystal oscillator that can do the job, can we instead use a 720 MHz or a 360 MHz sine wave signal as the clock source? It seems that it is possible to configure the eval board to divide the input frequency by 2, 4, 8, or 16. If this is the case, we should be able to turn either 720 MHz or 360 MHz into the desired 180 MHz input for the AD9106 chip.

-If this is possible, is there any downside to using a lower frequency clock source? Or any particular advantage of using 1440 MHz?

I really appreciate your help.

Thank you,

Sean
