AD9213-10GEVALZ: I could not capture data from AD9213-10GEBZ with ADS8-V1EBZ

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD9213

Hello,

Now I have a problem running AD9213-10GEBZ with ADS8-V1EBZ.
I set the parameters to AD9213-10GEBZ from ACE and ran from the analysis menu.
However, even if there is no error on the JESD204B status, I cannot capture the converted data.
It works well using AD9689-2600EBZ and AD9208-3000EBZ.
I need to know what to check, so I wrote this symptom in the attached file.
Please see this file and advise me.

Best regards,

  • Hi

    Thanks for using AD9213.

Kindly give time for the product owner ( ) to look into this and provide their response.

  • Hi Suzuki-san,

Thank you for your interest in AD9213. Thank you for providing such excellent diagrams and information.

    • In the rare cases where you can capture ADC outputs, once you are in this good state, will clicking "Run" again consistently result in successful capture, or will it likely revert back to no-capture?
    • Would you please verify that the FPGA RefClk is really synchronized to the ADC sample clock?
      • For example, is "FG" configured to accept an external reference?
    • What frequency are you using for the FPGA RefClk (of course this changes as the ADC clock frequency changes)?

I do not recall seeing this issue before in ACE/AD9213.

    Thank you.

    Doug

  • Hello Doug-san,

    Thanks for your help.
I have changed the ADC clock source from ADF4368 to E8257C signal generator.
    Please see "AD9213-10GEBZ_E2.pdf".
But I still cannot capture the waveform data even though there is no error.

    >  once you are in this good state, will clicking "Run" again consistently result in successful capture, or will it likely revert back to no-capture?

I cannot capture the sampled waveforms from the ADS8 when I click "Run" again.
Finally, it is no longer possible to capture sample waveform data. (even before changing from ADF4368 to E8257C)

    > Would you please verify that the FPGA RefClk is really synchronized to the ADC sample clock?

I have checked the frequencies and they are all synchronized.
     - ADC CLOCK: 10GHz, 6GHz
     - REF CLK for ADS8:625MHz, 375MHz

    >  For example, is "FG" configured to accept an external reference?
What frequency are you using for the FPGA RefClk (of course this changes as the ADC clock frequency changes)?

I have changed the FG and the ADF4368 to an E8257C signal generator.

Finally, it is no longer possible to capture sample waveform data. (even before changing the ADF4368 to E8257C)
Should I suspect a failure of the ADS8-V1EBZ?
The AD9208-3000EBZ and AD9689-2600EBZ work fine.
Do you have any idea what should be checked?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Suzuki-san,

For fCLK = 6GHz, the default configuration in ACE is L = 8 (instead of L = 16), so the RefClk frequency will be 750MHz instead of 375MHz.

@zaeefa, do you have any suggestions for Suzuki-san's situation?

    Thank you.

    Doug

  • Hi Doug-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
I checked according to your recommendation but it was the same result.
I could not get the sampled data.
ACE kept waiting for the end of the task after clicked "Run"
After aborting it, I checked the JESD204B status and no error occurred.
Do you have any idea what should be checked?

    Best regards,
