The LTC2271 is used on a product that we may use in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The LTC2271 is not on the ADI space qualified list. Is a similar (same process or ???) part on the ADI space qualified list? if a similar part is space qualified I will consider having the LTC2271 tested for radiation tolerance.
Hi PhotonRich ,
Thank you for your interest in LTC2271.
Unfortunately as you said, LTC2271 is not space qualified and there is no plan currently in place to have this space qualified. You can check out other ADC that are already space qualified such as AD9694S and AD9254S if this suites your needs.
Thanks.
Hi Jmoreno5,
Unfortunately, I have no authority to change the existing COTS design. Is the LTC2271 bipolar? Bipolar circuitry is generally TID (total ionizing dose) tolerant. If the LTC2271 is CMOS it would be likely to fail rad testing as CMOS is prone to single event latch-up. If the LTC2271 is bipolar, it is worth our doing rad testing on the circuit.
Thanks,
Rich
Hi Rich,
LTC2271 is differential CMOS, so most likely as you said it will fail on rad testing.
Thanks.
