ACE Capture View with AD9680, AD9234 and AD9174

Hi,

I trying to drive different eval boards with the latest version of ACE software (offline version).

* For AD9234 eval board, I did not find any plug-in on ADI website. Does it mean that I won't be able to drive AD234 eval board with ACE software?

* For AD9680 and AD9174 eval boards, I downloaded the latest plug-ins from ADI website, and then downloaded them into ACE. In a first time, I succeed in driving ADS7-v2 and AD9680 eval board together (LED enlightened, State = Good). Now, I am trying to capture some waveforms, and I do not find the "capture view" button. It seems to be located normally in the chip view window, at the bottom right ("Proceed to Analysis" button). But this button does not appear in AD9680 chip view. There is only the "Proceed to Memory Map" button. Is there a solution for solving this issue? (same problem with AD7174, no "Proceed to Analysis" button on the chip view window).

Thank you for advance.

Have a good afternoon.

Regards.

Laurent

    Hi Laurent,

regarding the AD9174. It is very much supported in ACE. But it is a DAC, not an ADC, and as such it does not need the Analysis View to process incoming samples as an FFT. The DAC plays the signal vector that is loaded into the ADS7 memory as a list of samples (vector) using either DPG Downloader (legacy) or DPG Lite (part of the current ACE install package). This signal is then typically played into a spectrum analyzer for analysis.

The complete setup is described in the AD917x-FMC-EBZ user guide on our Wiki.

  • Thank you, landsman. As a matter of fact, AD9174 is a DAC, and ADI user guide explains how to set up the board correctly regarding the different parameters. I was wondering if there was a single software solution in order to set up ADC and DAC. For DAC, it seems that it is necessary to go through DPG + ACE. For ADC, ACE may be used, but only with some ADC references. I installed DPG Downloader and I tried to set up correctly DPG on one hand, ACE on the other hand (without success until now, but I hope I will find a configuration that allows to generate some waveforms until the end of the day...). Thank you again. Regards. Laurent
