AD9234-1000EBZ SPI Controller Configuration file

Hello,

I bought AD9680-1250 and AD9234-1000 evaluation boards and interfacing board ADS7-V2.
I try to test both successively.
I succeed in testing AD9680 with VisualAnalog and SPIController (LED enlightened, configuration ok and plot with FFT Canvas).

Now, I’m trying to test AD9234.
As AD9234 canvas does not exist in the list of canvas present in VisualAnalog, I read in the ez.analog.com forum that AD9680 canvas works with AD9234 evaluation board.
I’ve tested it, and it works (LED enlightened on AD9234 board).
Now, for programming it, I open SPI Controller, and AD9234 does not appear in the list of configuration.
Could you help me for downloading AD9234-1000 configuration file please?

  • , you may use the AD9680 configuration file. The AD9234 is the 12-bit version of the AD9680.

    I try your advice (considering that both boards have different sample clocks and that sample clock and reference clock parameters have to be updated).

    After having launched VisualAnalog and selected AD9680 Canvas (LED enlightened), I launch SPIController. I select AD9680-1000 config (the AD9234 sample clock is 1Gsps, whereas the AD9680 one is 1.25Gsps. Question : is there a difference between 1Gsps and 1.25Gsps configurations?).

    There is a pop up window, mentionning "configuration File Error ! Chip ID and config file device name do not agree. Please load the AD9234 config file.". The good thing is that le computer recognizes the AD9234 board even if AD680 configuration is selected. I click ok. I set up the board configuration, go back to VisualAnalog, launch the FFT profile, and spectrums appear.

  • , the spicontroller setup doesnt apply any settings to the AD9234 chip. it will display the "defaults" that apply to AD9680-1250. you can change the register values to suit the AD9234-1000 and it will still take effect. the error you get is because spicontroller tries to read the chip ID register and there is a mismatch. this mismatch is being highlighted to the user, that is all. you can ignore this (because the user knows the lineage of the AD9234 and AD9680) and continue with your evaluation. you can input a low frequency tone and compare the noise/linearity numbers against the AD9234 datasheet. they should closely match.
