AD9231, AD9573

Hello,

I'm looking for a clock wich I can use for the AD9231. It needs to be a low power device for my design. Is the AD9573 suitable for that? I'll only need the 100MHz output of the AD9573. To wich level do I have to connect the VDD33, 33M and GND33 pins if I won't use the 33MHz output?

  • Hi TKa303,

My reading of the AD9573 datasheet indicates that the 100M output is fixed at 100MHz (not adjustable), which is too high for AD9231.

The AD9231 datasheet shows the AD9510/AD9511/AD9512/AD9513/AD9514/AD9515/AD9516/AD9517 family as possible clock generators. Do any of these work for you?

    Thanks,

    Doug

On page 7 the datasheet indicates that the max. Input Clock Rate for the AD9231 is 625MHz. Why should the 100MHz be to high? The AD9231 also contains an input clock divider with the ability to divide the input clock by integer values between 1 and 8.

The AD9510/AD9511/AD9512/AD9513/AD9514/AD9515/AD9516/AD9517 are all clock distribution ICs. If I'll use one of them I would still need an clock generator IC, right?

  • Hi TKa303,

I apologize . . . you are absolutely right about the clock divider. I'm sorry about my missing that. I had a sample rate of 100Msps stuck in my head.

Regarding clock generation and distribution, again you are correct. I'll ask an AD9573 knowledgeable engineer to reply to your questions.

Again, I'm sorry for my hasty replies.
