LTC2326-18 Behavior if reading less than 18 bits

Can anyone tell me the behavior of the LTC2326-18 if you only clock out 16 bits between conversions.  We thought we would simply get the most significant 16 bits and the bottom 2 bits would be discarded when the next conversion is started, however, we are seeing strange results.

  • Hi Steve,

You should be able to clock out only 16-bits. Can you provide a scope photo showing CNV, SCK, SDO and BUSY along with a description of the input voltage and reference voltage applied. It would also be helpful if you provide a schematic and a photo of your setup.
