about VisualAnalog

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are going to use AD9257 for Image sensor and studying VisualAnalog

using AD9257-65EBZ and HSC-ADC-EVALCZ.

AD9257 is connected with 8-ch CMOS sensor.

So,we want to acquire Row_data of AD9257.

What is the simple or best method using VisualAnlog?.

Attached image is sample canvas.

It would be greatly appreciated if advice could be gotten.

    Happy New Year. I apologize for my delayed response.

    I checked my setup and the alignment is 16 by default. This is what works for getting the proper FFT.

    Please try 16.

    Pls refer to the Page.7 of the attached file.

    The indication of voltage became OK.

    However,Enable Weighting check box is cleared in order to obtain a code, indicate x4 value of voltage.

    as same as result of Page.1

    Is this related to the setting?.

  • Dear Kou-san,

    I think I know what is happening. VisualAnalog must be interpreting AD9257 Bits[13:0] as Bits[15:2], so the codes reported in the Samples Canvas are 4X what they should be.

    Is the minimum code change that you see 4 codes? If so, this is consistent with this explanation.

    I am confirming this with the software group. In the meantime please divide the reported codes by 4.

  • Hi Kou-san,

    Yes, the AD9257 output Bits[13:0] are being counted as Bits[15:2]. There is a work-around we can do in the VisualAnalog Samples Canvas. There is a VisualAnalog Component called Bit Shifter. Drag a Bit Shifter block onto the Samples canvas from the list on the left-hand side of the VisualAnalog window. Connect it between the ADC Data Capture block and Input Formatter, as shown in the figure below.

    Bit Shifter Settings

    Direction: Down

    Bit Resolution: 14

    Shift: 2

    Input Formatter Settings

    Resolution: 14

    Alignment: 14

    This should produce the correct codes. Again, I apologize for the trouble.
