AD9958 Ref Clk detection fails

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD9958

Hello,

I am trying to operate a AD9958/59 Evaluation board Z Rev C (ad9958/PCBZ) with the ad9958/59 evaluation software. It is connected to the PC via usb, cr1 is lighting green, cr2 is blinking red. VCC_USB and DVDD_10 are powered with 3.3 V, gnd is grounded, DVDD is powered with 1.8 V. the REF CLK input (J9) gets a (ca.) 14 dBm (1.13V) signal of 10 MHz and CLK_VDD (J10) is powered with 1.8 V. I have verified all powers with a multimeter and the RefClk input with an RFSA. The jumper W11' is connected to ref clk, W7 is connected to PC, and there are connected jumpers in W9, W10, W1, W2, W3, W4, W5 and W6.

When I open the AD9958/59 evaluation software I get the warning pop up "RefClk Missing: The evaluation board doesnt seem to have a refclk. without a refclk the software cannot program the ad9958/59. Please check your connections!". So it seems it doesnt find the refclk but it is powered and has input. When I close the status window, the usb status in the sofware shows cyusb-1 in green and dut type ad9958 in green.

Can you help me troubleshoot?  Is there anything i can check to find and fix the cause? Upon checking the datasheet, I noticed that the RefClk signal strength is a bit too high, so I inserted an attenuator, now the input is ca. 4 dBm (360 mV). Is there a way to determine and fix possible damage?

The status log in the AD evaluation software is the following:
