CN0532 long term operating temperature

Thread Summary

The user inquired about the suitability of the CN0532 for monitoring vibration on equipment with surface temperatures of 90 to 110°C during 10-hour shifts, 6 days a week. The support engineer confirmed that all CN0532 components are rated to 125°C, but long-term reliability at high temperatures is not characterized. The ADXL1002 accelerometer may experience offset drift due to package degradation, potentially a few 100 mg over its lifetime, though this is application-dependent.

Hi,

One of the equipment for which we want to monitor vibration has a surface temperature of 90 to 110 degree Celsius. These conditions are during 10 hour shifts, 6 days a week.
Is the CN0532 capable for the job? The datasheet says maximum operating temperature 125 degrees, but it doesn't say anything about long term reliability at high temperatures.

  • Hi,

All CN0532 components are rated to 125C, but we did not characterize long term reliability of this circuit. Notice that the ADXL1002 (accelerometer on the CN0532) is on a over molded package, so package degradation/aging is expected at high temperatures. This would be translated as an offset drift at the output of the ADXL1002. Generally, we would expect the ADXL1002 to drift a few 100 mg over life time, but this is very difficult to quantify as is application dependent.

    I hope this helps,

    Pablo .

  • Hi Pablo,

On your reply above, did you mean 100 mVDC or mg?  I am trying to quantify what kind of drift to expect on the DC offset due to this package degradation/aging.

    Thanks,

    LdlT
