in the spec page 24, the efficiency figure and typical app figure only show up to 0.8A when 5V input.
i understand it is because max switch current reached.
but the calculation in spec is not easy to understand.
is there a calculator like other part provide?
if my output is 8.5V, what is the max output current in 5V and 3.5V input ?

You need to know the topology, inductor value, and switching frequency to calculate the maximum output current.
If you're making a boost converter, please refer to this equation on page 13 in the datasheet.
Another way to simply estimate the max Iout is to simulate your circuit in LTspice. You can download the LT8334 LTspice model from our website.
