What is the major difference between the DS1682 and the DS1683?
The major difference between the two devices lies in the memory specifics. The DS1682 was designed for one-time-write to prevent tampering after the alarm was set and the device was sent out into the field. On the other hand the DS1683 allows more flexibility when it comes to programming it by allowing a password protect feature in order to rewrite the device.
