Dear Sir or Madam,

The main problem is that the eval Board does not want to connect to the AD9510 eval SW. I am running windows 11.

So I tried to update the EEPROM on the eval board since I figured that it has be updated for the x64 systems.

I tried to follow the instructions described mhtml:file://C:\Program Files (x86)\Analog Devices\USB Eval Board Programmer\DriverGuide.mht

However when I get to the point of choosing the driver on the disc:

i get the following error stating that the driver given is probably not for x64 and does not let me continue. 

do you see a way out of this?

    I am skeptical the USB EEPROM on your eval board needs to be updated. But anyway, if you still want to pursue the programming of the USB EEPROM, use the last USB programmer we released: https://www.analog.com/en/resources/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/eval-ad9546.html#eb-relatedsoftware

    On my pc, running Windows 11 Enterprise, the AD9510 eval software works. I do not remember when I installed it, but it must have been some time in the last two years. The board is untouched from the USB EEPROM perspective. I do not remember to have to update the USB EEPROM to make it work.

    I looked into the folders you list to find the driver on my pc. My ADI_CYUSB_LRF_x64.inf file has a 2018 date. Yours has 2012. I do not know what legacy ADI clocking eval software installed this  file on my pc.

    I made a zip file of the entire LRF Driver folder. I added txt extension to be able to upload it. See if you unzip it and replace your folder with it gets you going.

    Final thought: why do you have to use the AD9510? There are many newer PLL devices in the portfolio that have internal VCOs

    will give it a try. yes, might be the EEPROM is not the issue but at this point i dont know what else to try. 

    it is more about the CLK fan out. dont really need the VCO capability. I am looking for something that has -162dBc/Hz and better white noise at 100MHz. the AD9510 is a possible candidate. if you know any other let me know...

    The AD9510 has 8 outputs, 4 LVPECL and 4 that may be LVDS or 3.3V CMOS.

    ADCLK846 and ADCLK946 have 6 outputs.

    ADCLK948 has 8.

    ADCLK950 has 10.

    ADCLK854 and ADCLK954 have 12.

    These do not need programming through SPI, so no problems with the eval boards from being connected to the pc.

  • nothing of this helped. still getting the same error. do you have any other idea how make the board work. it says it foudn the drivers but it can not start the Eval board sw. what about installing windows 98 , 2000 or something like this?  

  • may I assume that the AD9515 has the same core and the measurements of this chip will give the same results as if I would be meassuring the AD9510? in terms of phase noise.

    the AD9515 contains blocks of the AD9510, so the additive phase noise introduced by the AD9510 buffer is similar to the phase noise introduced by AD9510 similar channels.

    I'll have to contact someone to see if I can get a solution to your Windows related problems. I'll get back to you when I'll have an answer.

    this is what I received from a software focused colleague:

    I don't think this is related to the driver, my reason for saying this is because, from my understanding, the program does not launch at all, the drivers only come into play when they try to identify/communicate with the board. I just installed the software on my PC and this runs in demo mode without hardware out of the box. 

     

    Three things to do,

    1. Check their firewall configuration might be blocking the software or their Windows OS might be configured to block certain applications. 
    2. Completely uninstall the current software (ensure no files related to the software is present on their system), then restart their PC and try to install the software again, their aim is to allow the software run in demo mode, it should be fine from then.
    3. Ultimately try a different PC. If it runs then the issue shows the current PC in use.

     i tried to add the AD9510 Eval Board SW to the firewall exceptions. I still get the following display from the Eval Board SW

    I also tried to replace the cable. Tried also a different computer...no change. 

    any idea?

  • usb status LED on the board is red. VBUS LED is green. reinstalling the SW on the PC didnt help.
