Inquiries regarding Waveform and Amplitude Control on EVAL-AD9837SDZ with EVAL-SDP-CB1Z

Hello,

I am currently using the EVAL-SDP-CB1Z as a motherboard with the EVAL-AD9837SDZ daughterboard mounted on it. I am controlling the board using the Windows PC application (GUI) labeled AD9837 Rev.A.

During my evaluation, I encountered a few questions regarding the waveform output and control capabilities:

Q1. Square Wave and DC Output The GUI allows selection for Ramp and Sinusoidal waveforms, but there are no explicit settings for Square wave or DC output. Occasionally, I can observe a Square or DC waveform by manually tweaking the Phase Accumulator or Frequency values.

  • Does this EVB officially support Square wave or DC waveform outputs?

Q2. Voltage Amplitude Control The datasheet for the AD9837 chip seems to indicate that output voltage amplitude can be adjusted (or at least implies control over the output). However, the current EVB GUI does not appear to provide any option to control the voltage amplitude.

  • Q2-1) Is it possible to control the output voltage amplitude with this setup?

  • Q2-2) Most Critical Question: If the GUI does not support it, is it possible to control the EVAL-AD9837SDZ via the EVAL-SDP-CB1Z using custom coding to adjust the voltage amplitude?

    • Are there any specific documents, libraries, or SDKs available for this purpose?
