Regarding single ended 10MHz sine wave input to AD9545 and AD9546

Dear All,

We are planning to use AD9545 and AD9546 for our custom board.

Can anyone pl confirm if AD9545 and AD9546 can take single ended 10MHz sine wave as input and configured to give output as single ended 40MHz sine wave?

Hi,

the AD9545 and the AD9546 can receive 10 MHz single ended, AC or DC coupled sinusoidal references. See the specifications in the data sheet.

But they can generate 40MHz rectangular HCSL or CML clocks, not sinusoids.

Hello priya_mp ,

Is your 10MHz input taken from a reference clock or other stable source, or from a receiver input (where the 10MHz may or may not be present or at other frequency, i.e. what is the "locking time requirement")?

For cycle-to-cycle accurate generation you'll need two self-mixing multipliers and some filtering. If locking time is not an issue, you can use a PLL with 1:4 division ratio and low-distortion VCO output.

What is the amplitude of the input signal?

Hi Heke,

Thanks for the response.

10MHz input is from a stable source - signal generator.

10MHz signal of power level 2 to 8dBm is from signal generator.

Our requirement is to convert this 10MHz to 40MHz.

Please recommend appropriate pll ic.

Hi Petre,

This 40MHz is for AD9364 reference clock.

AD9364 as per datasheet can accept cmos Or lvpecl clock.

Hence can u please recommend appropriate ic that generates stable 40MHz cmos Or lvpecl from external 10MHz source..
