Hello Community,
the datasheet of the DS1307 shows a battery directly connected to the VBAT pin. It even states that a diode in series may prevent proper function.
However, in the UL coin cell requirements it is stated that you either need two diodes or a diode plus a resistor as a safety mechanism. Embedded - UL coin cell requirements
On page 6 of the datasheet it even says "UL recognized to ensure against reverse charging current when used with a lithium battery."
Does this mean the DS1307 has it's own internal safety circuitry that is conform with UL or does one need additional components?
If someone has the block diagram of the "power control" block that would help a lot!
