ADF4382A Agile LO Applications

Hi Chris,

As stated in the datasheet, the VCO calibration time in itself is <1us, because the calibration parameters (VCO Core, VCO Band, and VCO Bias) for 32 points of the octave range are stored in an on chip look-up table and used to interpolate each frequency jumps. You also need to account for your loop filter settling time which could vary dependent on your loop filter configuration/components. Combination of these make up your frequency tuning time.

according to the datasheet (Rev. A, page 33), there should be a seperate application note for the fast calibration.
But I could not find this on the part website.
Could you add this application note to the website or here?

In the meantime, you can find the fast calibration feature implementation in our GitHub repository here: https://github.com/analogdevicesinc/no-OS/tree/staging/adf4382-dev/drivers/frequency/adf4382 with the register settings and procedures. I have also attached a user guide to build and run the driver with the Fastcal feature.

I'm interested in utilizing the fast calibration with the adf4382. I wasn't able to find the adf4382 under the current selection of supported devices by pyiio-library. I also wasn't able to get iio-oscilloscope to recognize my SDP-S microcontroller. If you have any tips for troubleshooting or updates please let me know.

So, pyadi_iio is a library used to communicate with the custom no-OS drivers. ADF4382 firmware is configure for SDP-K1 (STM32 microcontrollers). SDP-S lacks flash memory to reprogram your firmware.

Refer to (https://wiki.analog.com/resources/no-os/build) for a build guide for our custom firmware. We may also be able to share an already built firmware with drag-n-drop capability to flash your SDP-K1 if you have an email associated with an active myanalog.com account.
