AD9514 configuration

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: AD9514

Hi,

I would like to us the AD9514 component in my design

configuration is as below:

1. CLOCK input = 1GHz

2. LVDS output - 125MHz

3. LVPECL output - 250MHz

questions:

1. what is the best way to convert the LVPECL output to single-ended? what is the expected power level?

2. what shall I connect to the unused LVPECL output?

3. What is the expected current supply in this configuration?

Thanks,

Asaf

  • Hi Asaf,

    To answer your questions:
    1. The expected output differential voltage of the AD9514 are 640mV, 790mV and 960mV. That is around 8.2mW, 12mW and 18mW, respectively. Using only one side of the differential pair would half the voltage, thus would quarter the power.
    2. You can still use the recommended output termination for LVPECL for unused outputs. The simplest one is to just connect a 200 ohms resistor to ground.
    3. I think there isn't much change in the current supply for this configuration. I'd recommend setting other outputs to OFF (Table 11 of the data sheet) to achieve power savings (Table 7).

    Best regards,
    Mark
