Are you able to provide information on the meaning of each byte? As part of the boot sequence of the board we would like to read these registers to verify the SPI connection to the chip. Are these values likely to change?

There is no specific meaning behind the chip id. The values you are reading are correct and I can say that your SPI readback is working.
