HMC7044 vs AD9528

Hi,
I am designing a module with AD9375 RF Transceiver. i need to provide reference clock of 122.88MHz<219fs jitter.
I came across AD9528 & HMC7044 which might meet my requirements.I calculated the Timing jitter using ADI Sim CLK as shown below,



It is observed that HMC7044 performance gets reduced a lot in lower frequencies while AD9528 phase noise remains same.
Can you suggest with which part should i proceed to meet the expected performance mentioned in AD9375 Data sheet.
Also it would be great if you can share the measured phase noise of AD9528 & HMC7044 at/near 122.88MHz.

    The absolute jitter of the AD9528 depends also of the VCXO. Please take a look at the AD9528 data sheet, rev E, page 11, where the absolute jitter of 122.88MHz LVDS outputs is presented when a Crystek 122.88MHz VCXO is used.

    Generally speaking, the AD9528 has worse performance than the HMC7044, but consumes less power.

    In my Case, I will be having PLL1 PFD:40KHz, assuming i use Crystek 122.88MHz VCXO for both AD9528 & HMC7044, I need to know which will give me better performance for LVDS output of 122.88MHz?

  • Hi,

    in case of the AD9528, the PLL1 bandwidth should be below 100Hz, so it really does not matter too much on the phase noise of the outputs. 

    Again, the AD9528 performance should be worse than the HMC7044, but consumes less power.
