PlutoSDR pps recovery/propagation libIIO

Question

Hi, 
 For my application I need a accurate timing. To this end, I connected an external gps clock (Leo Bodnar Mini Precision GPS Reference Clock) to my PlutoSDR. 
 Is it possible to recover the pps afterwards? Or is there a way to time-tag samples (absolute or relative) and propagate this through the iio framework? 
 Accuracy is the most important part. 
 
 If there are any other suggestions on how to achieve accurate timing, please let me know.

These are my findings so far: 
 1) It is possible to propagate the external reference clock to the fpga. 
 2) It is possible to do time tagging using the second channel in the fpga (plutosdr rev C). I put the refernce clock to a binary counter (32 bit) and sliced the signal over the I and the Q channel (both 16 bit).
