AD9520-1 config settings

Hi,

        We are using a  AD9520-1 , in two modes

1) In mode 0 it uses internal VCO which generates 2.52 Ghz, VCO divider with division value 6, so the output frequency is 420Mhz.

   Q.) can i bypass every divider except the VCO divider?

2) In mode 1 it just distributes a 420Mhz signal from an external source.

     Q) can i bypass all dividers and what about the PFD,PLL settings?

    Hi Chaitanya,

    1.) Yes this can be done by changing the four channel dividers (Divider 0 through 3) bypass bit (Registers 0x191, 0x194, 0x197 and 0x198).  Please see the datasheet register map descriptions for the exact setting.

    2.) You can only bypass the entire PLL and use the distribution if you use the CLK and CLKb inputs.  In this mode you will be able to bypass all of the dividers and the PLL may be powered down (Register 0x010 bits 1:0).  See Table 3 and the Clock Distribution section on p.43 in the datasheet for more information.
