AD9517-0 Evaluation board to drive a prototype board populated with an AD9517-0

Hi everyone,

I am trying to use a "AD9517/PCBZ (Rev B)" evaluation board to drive an AD9517-0 installed in another board designed by us.

The intention is to use the "AD9516/17/18 Evaluation Software, Version 1.1.0" to control/program the AD9517-0 mounted in our board. To do that, we removed the evaluation board AD9517-0 and wire the signals from connector P1 to our board.


Who can I be sure that the communication with the AD9517-0 is correct?

Is it any thing that prevents this setup to work?

Any advise will be really appreciated.

    I realize that to resolder the chip in the "AD9517/PCBZ (Rev B)" evaluation board is not so easy for me, so I am wondering if it is possible to use the evaluation board and software, with out removing the evaluation board AD9517-0, to control/program the AD9517-0 mounted in our board.

    I guess I just need to cut the CSB line and connect out board to the SPI bus but there are other signals in connector P1 (STATUS, RESETB, PDB, REFMON, REF_SEL, LD) and I do not know if the evaluation software needs them.

    Questions:

    1.- Will the evaluation software work with our board connecting it just in the SPI bus and cutting the Evaluation board CSB signal?

    2.- If the evaluation software needs the rest of the signals, is it possible to connect out board to them with out damaging the AD9517-0 chips (evaluation board one and our board one)?

    I really will appreciate any hint.
