AD9517-3 SPI Interface

Hello,

     For a new project we are using the AD9517-3. Prior to this we have successfully programmed and used the AD9523-1.

The problem right now is that there is no response from the AD9517-3 in a 4 wire interface.

The steps we follow are as follows:

1) Write 0x19 to address 0x000 (long instruction mode, 4 wire interface).

2) Write 0x01 to address 0x232 (transfer to active register set).

3) Read from 0x003 (device ID).

We are unable to get anything out of the SDO pin.

The schematic and pcb connections have been verified. We are using exactly the same interface that worked for AD9523-1 to talk to the AD9517-3.

         The problem of not getting a response has been fixed. d153 had to be written at h0.

    The problem now is that the PLL is not locked or the output freq is not correct.

    We have a 200MHz differential reference in and the loop filter is same as that on the eval board.

    Reset is pulled high and Ref_Sel is tied low.

    After writing all the registers once 0x018(0) is set to 1.

    Then 0x01F is read and the result is 0x0E (VCO cal not done and no lock).

    CP out pin is at 0V and bypass pin cap is at ~2.6V.

    Hi Shashank,

    I believe this issue was resolved by working with you one-on-one, and changing the loop filter components.

    Please let me know if I'm mistaken.
