About the MAX9979 Evaluation Board

After further investigation, I found that the cause was that the driver did not have a digital signature.

When I checked how to install a driver without a digital signature on WIN10,
・Release the security boot applied by BIOS
・ Edit some registers

When I tried it on my personal PC, I was able to install it successfully.
However, the above changes cannot be made on the PC provided by the company.
Is it possible to provide digitally signed drivers?

Unfortunately I don't know how to go about providing a driver with digital signature for installing the MAX9979 GUI on your company provided PC.

I'll ask around and if I find out how to do it, I'll ping you here.

I've been told that your issue, where you can't install the GUI on your company issued laptop, is most likely related to your company's digital guardian / protection infrastructure and not something ADI has any control over. I'm sorry about that but maybe your IT department can help you circumvent this protection level.

It is the specification of win10.

On win10, drivers without digital signatures cannot be installed without editing the register.

(I could not install it without editing the registry even on my personal PC)

Regarding the register of win10, I am not familiar with it, but when I read the explanation of the net article,
Changing that register makes it vulnerable to viruses such as ransomware, so we don't recommend changing it. There was a warning to put it back immediately after installing.

On win10,  PCs from 2018? onwards have added a security boot as a further protection on the BIOS.

This also made it impossible to install device drivers without a digital signature

This is in response to a rather old thread from you.

Regarding the question of being able to run the MAX9979 EVK evaluation board with Windows 10 that you had some issues with in the past, here are some remedies / workarounds that may help:

1. Plug the USB cable from MAX9979 EVK to the PC / Laptop.
2. In Windows, under the Device Manager right click the Maxim MINIQUSB Module 01.05.41 and choose Properties.
3. Click Uninstall Device and check the Delete the driver software for the device.

4. Click the Scan for hardware changes icon near the File menu bar.

5. Install the attached *.exe driver.MAX9979 Driver Maxim_VID_FTDI_x64_CDM_2.06.00.zip

6. Click the Scan for hardware changes again. You should be able to see a USB Serial Port (COM#) assigned under Device Manager.

7. Open the MAX9979EVKIT# Software to confirm if it is connected.

Hopefully this will resolve the issue you've been having with not being able to connect to the MAX9979 EVK module using Windows 10.
