The MAX9814 will certainly work with a dynamic microphone. The only change from the electret configuration is that the microphone doesn’t need to be biased. The AGC configuration remains the same. See diagram from the datasheet below:
Note that you should still use MICBIAS as the reference for the voltage divider connected to TH to set the AGC threshold.
