Confirmation that a short circuit on the amplifier output will not cause damage

Category: Hardware
Product Number: MAX98357A

I would like confirmation that a short circuit on the output of the MAX98357A amplifier will not cause damage or other problems.

The amplifier output is connected to a 3.5mm TRS headphone socket, at the moment I have only connected the output to the tip and sleeve....

But this means it will only play on the left speaker when a pair of headphones is plugged in.

I only want one headphone to play audio  (left OR right) and to do this one headphone speaker would be cut off.

But for this to work, the tip and ring would need to be shorted together.

This will not be a problem if a stereo jack is inserted into the stereo socket, but if a mono jack is inserted it would short circuit the sleeve and ring and therefore short circuit the amplifier output.
