Type of analog microphone for max9867

Category: Hardware
Product Number: MAX9867

I'm designing a microphone for football referees using the MAX9867 driver. The microphone needs to be analog. Are there any microphones you would recommend using with this driver? The microphones in the examples are my priority.

Example: digikey part number: FB-BW-30335-000

  • Hello tuana,

I am curious as to why it needs to be analog? I am guessing it is because the mic will be connected via a long cable? 3 ft or so? This codec does have a digital mic interface as well as the analog mic preamp.

Also, what voltage will you have to power the mic?

The mic you gave as an example is a boom mic so it is already mounted. So what is the physical characteristics will you be looking for?

I expect you will have it just be a clip mic to clip on a collar or something like that?

Will the mic be mounted on a headset with a small boom so it could be right in front of the mouth? With that setup the cable length will be rather short, maybe 10 inches max? So a digital mic may be possible to use.

There are so many options available for analog mics with small differences that might be important for your application.

I did a quick search on DigiKey and filtered results are 720 results!! Makes it tough for us to suggest which is right for you.

This link should be the search I did.

  • I want to use two analog microphones because I want to use two identical microphones. I want to process the data coming from the analog input. I'm using one microphone as an example because that's how I want to use it mechanically. My microphone's typical supply voltage should be 1.5V. I also want to use a differential microphone.

I'm also curious about the importance of impedance when choosing a microphone.
