ADAU1761 equivalent

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADAU1761 equivalent

Hello everyone

I´m developing an audio application with ADAU1761 using the DSP to generate a white noise and acquire the 2 ADC, filter, take the RMS and send to a readback. For now it is working very smooth. I wanna develop a 2nd board with another codec just in case. What would e a suitable subtitutor to ADAU1761, I need at least 2 ADC, 2 DAC and a stereo HP output. Any ideia?
Best regards.

  • Hello Rafael,

I think you have the best part now. If you go to the ADAU1701 you will lose the headphone out. You could just add some Opamps to the output and use that to drive headphones.

If you go to the ADAU1787 you gain more functionality but it is only a 1.8V part and it is a small pitch BGA part which I do not expect you will want to use.

For now, stick with the 1761, If you need more DSP later then there will be other options but with a higher parts count.

  • Hi Dave, thanks for you reply. Indeed I already use a external hp ampop so this would not a issue. The problem with ADAU1701 is that he doesnt have a Mic Bias. And yes, the ADAU1787 is great but  it is only a 1.8V part and it is a small pitch BGA. I think one possibility would separete the DSP from de CODEC but it will add complexity and price to the product.

Do you know what would be the life cycle of ADAU1761?

    Best regards.

  • Hello Rafael,

The ADAU1761 is one of our most popular parts so it is not going away any time soon. It is designed into many products that have a long design cycle so demand will be good for 10+ years easily.

For now I suggest you stick with the 1761.
