Hey all,
I'm running a MacBook Pro M2 with Windows 11 on Parallels and am running SigmaStudio just fine. I am running into a problem with the included programmer for the EVAL-ADAU1701MINIZ (https://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/EVAL-ADAU1701.html).
The USBi programmer (EVAL-ADUSB2EBZ) is showing up under Other devices in device manager and what I've found in looking through other documentation is the following:
"Connect the USBi to an available USB 2.0 port using the USB cable included in the evaluation board kit. (The USBi does not function properly with a USB 3.0 port.)"
That quote is from this documentation for another eval kit that uses the same programmer: https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/user-guides/EVAL-ADAU1777Z-UG-1055.pdf
I can't tell if it's because I'm on an ARM processor now and there are no ARM drivers for this programmer or if the issue is actually USB 3, in which case... that's all I have on my computer. I tried a USB hub to try and see if it would recognize it as a USB 2.0 device but that didn't seem to do anything. I tried adding the drivers manually but it says it can't find the drivers when I point the manual driver folder to the Sigma Studio driver folder.
So my question is... is there anyway to get this to work with Windows 11 or USB 3? I know the Parallels thing and the ARM processor changes things.
Or, is there another programmer I can buy that will still work with the ADAU1701 eval board?
Thanks!
Hello Zach,
I also have run into the same problem. Our internal programmers have said there is an issue with supporting the ARM platforms. I also have a personal MAC and changed to an M1 machine running Parallels. One of our customers has actually come up with a solution that I have not had a moment to try. So this request of yours is pushing me to try the solution and see if It works and if I can share it. Give me a little time to get back to you about this.
You are doing nothing wrong and have tried a lot of creative solutions.

Hey Dave - good to know you've run into the same thing. Looking forward to seeing what you find out. Thanks!
Just following up - any luck DaveThib ?
Hello Zach,
I am fighting with our IT team. Our internal security systems strip the attachment when I try to send it to my personal MAC. Even if I zip the file it will strip it. I really wanted to test this before sending out. I wonder if I can attach it here?
I will try this. Keep in mind this is NOT a signed driver and not tested by us so it is not official. This is from the community and treat it as such.
I want to see if I can share it using the forum?
Here is the file.
If you want to try this give it a shot and let me know if it works. Meanwhile, I will continue to see how I can get it on my machine. If this works then this is how I will do the transfer.

Hello Zach,
Well, I was able to get the file over to my MAC via the forum post but I cannot seem to get Windows to see this as a driver and install it. I go to update the USBi driver and it does not find it even if I point right to the folder it is located in. So perhaps you can help me out here if you know of a way to convince Windows to use it?
Dave T
Hi Dave,
I was able to download the driver but when I go to update the USBi driver (doing the same thing you did), I was also not able to get Windows to install it/recognize it. I thought by disabling driver signature enforcement might fix it but it doesn't (https://pureinfotech.com/disable-driver-signature-enforcement-windows-11/#:~:text=Click%20on%20Advanced%20options.,Disable%20driver%20signature%20enforcement%20option.)
I'm mainly a Mac user and have searched for how to get Windows to recognize the file as a driver but didn't have any luck. Not sure what else to do.
Hi Dave,
Trying to reply again - my previous reply contained a link to a website that instructs how to disable driver signature enforcement and the reply was flagged for review. No idea how long that will take so just replying again.
I was able to download the driver and also was not able to get it to recognize driver. I've searched quite a bit about how to get Windows to recognize a driver and haven't found anything useful. I'm not entirely sure what else to do. This might be a dead end. Was hoping to not have to buy another computer just to test a board.
Hello Zach,
I will investigate more from my end. Thanks for trying this out. I also need to be able to use my MAC with SigmaStudio so I am fighting with you for a solution to this.
I am also biting my lip to keep from complaining about the Windos platform. I wish we could come out with a MAC version of SigmaStudio!! But that will not happen...

Hye Dave,
Sounds good! Will likely try a few more things in the next day to see if I can figure out how to make the driver recognized. Will post back here if I encounter any useful information or have any success.
Hey Dave - any updates here since August on getting things working with an M2 Mac running Parallels?
