I am a bit confused by the datasheet of the ADAU1979 ADC. On page 15 (Rev. 0), it is mentioned, that the analog inputs may swing between 4.68V and -1.68V for 0 dBFS. On the other hand, on page 7, under absolute maximum ratings, it says:
Analog Input Voltage (Signal Pins): -0.3 V to +3.6V
Which seems to contradict the specification above. Do I commit a fallacy here? The reason I'm asking: I will have an external signal at the input of the ADC and would like to limit the input voltage (after the coupling capacitors) using schottky diodes to avoid damaging the ADC.
