mems microphone:attenuate sound input

mems microphone: I am looking for a mems microphone able to capture a sound pressure of 140 dB SPL. Apparently the maximum pressure an analog device microphone can withstand is 120 dB SPL. Is there a way to attenuate the sound before it goes into the microphone?

  • Hi JeradL,

I have purchased a sound level meter, and it is showing that my drum kit is producing up to 125 dB (even with very aggressive cracks on the snare). I am noticing the distortion at the mic level even with medium strength hits. I have also tried powering the ADMP411 with a dedicated 3.3V line (avoiding any potential problems with the 2-wire power approach-if that is even a possibility). Is there anything else I may be doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
